How We Work

Summary

  • We have pretty unique tools and methods for what we do
  • Most tools are private inhouse tools that we use for our clients and us only
  • We might open the toolkit to a small premium client group in the future

Our Technology and Methods

To perform everyday tasks for our clients and projects we use a mix of standard tools that are openly available and a good amount of proprietary SEO backend software we developed inhouse to do the “real-stuff” and automate a lot of tedious tasks.

This SEO backend software is our advantage over our competitors in the search market. This software helps us find better links and sites faster, keep track of our work in a big database of links, sites, contact and deal information and BEST of all, give clients accurate and transparent reports on our work.

Today there’s no comparable solution available on the market, that’s why we had to build it.

In addition our development team builds the tools we need for providing high quality results, detailed and historical insights into the sites stats (dozens of search parameters!) and links we built and monitor (yes - we do keep track of built links automatically - all of them!). We track over 30 parameters for every page and link we place. This SEO data mart helps us look back in time historically to get an understanding of the impact of our actions - and again, give clients transparent

Some great competitive advantages this inhouse solution gives us over our competitors

Did you know that it sometimes takes 3 to 6 months for newly placed links to work out?

  • we can keep track of links and their impact

Did you know that advertising deals or paid links are often removed or sites break and the webmaster, and worse, the client does not notice it at all?

  • we keep track automatically of all developed links for your link marketing campaign and just have to follow up with unbenefical changes (so you pay us for real work, not leg work)

Well, as you see we DO notice problems with your links. And we make sure your links go back up, after all only aged links are good links.

Our data mart keeps track of hundreds of thousands domains, pages and links – essentially keeping an own web graph index, similar to Google’s index - just a bit smaller.

But just as Google uses this historical data to get signals of possible changes in interest for a website in his own index, so do we.

Our Internet Marketing Tools

Some tools we have in our private SEO backend software are…

Measuring the “Juice” of a page

Our “JUICE” tools goal is to indicate if a page is actually indexed by Google and ranks. This check is being done by automatically searching Google for unique phrases that are on the page multiple times. Depending on the results we can gauge if it’s actually worth to build or keep a link on a page.

We check all that automatically in the background with our link building software for you for every single page we investigate, along with other parameters that indicate to us if it’s worthwhile to build a link.

Juice Indicator on our browser toolbar

Above you see a part of our juice toolbar that every SEO and link builder inhouse uses to gauge a pages value.

In our experience the JUICE indicator is the ONLY way to measure if Google likes that page or not, and most important - has it in it’s index and updates in on a regular basis. This supersedes all other oldish indicators like Google cache dates or Google page rank which are still commonly used to value a page.

SERP Research tool - Finding the best sites to get links from

Searching Google can be a real pain, as it changes results over the day and week. This means working thru the SERPs can be a time waster, as there’s no easy way to remove those you already seen and noted as useless, approached already but got a rejection or simply - already got a link from.

Our SERP research tool is a collaborative tool, where judgements from various link builders are gathered in a central database, so that for a client we will never look at a site twice, unless we want to. Also we combine multiple keyword phrases we want to search for, so that duplicate resulting sites will only show up once. So we avoid reviewing and possibly approaching sites multiple times and only get the essence of the results. And because we got all the contact and link info in our tool for the sites we already worked with we save even more time. This does more than helping us to search for and manage your links. It’s boosting our research performance multiple times. Some researches would not be feasible without this tool.

We use the SERP research tool for the managed link building plans and the persona building service. In both cases we can hide those sites that are not of interest for us - be it because we already got a link there, the search engine stats are not to our satisfaction, it’s not juicy or simply because it’s an illegitimate spam site. This is a real time safer!

serp-research-tool-example The picture shows a small part of the SERP research tool where we did a combined search for phrases where our company site cemper.com also came up at #5 and as you can see it’s already marked as a commercial site and we see that it’s juicy and our link builders Juan and Sabine already worked on the site.

Common Backlinks - Finding your competitor’s best links

The common backlinks tool will find the backlinks for each domain we enter - from various sources (including Yahoo, Google, Altavista and other sources) and then shows us the backlinks of sites linking to at least two of the domains we entered. These common backlinks are some of the best links we can get for you to help put your site in the right neighborhood, and to skyrocket your rankings.

For each page we also evaluate various factors like JUICE, domain age, page rank, back links to the page to help see and approach the best ones (color coded) first!

The below example shows you a part of the report screen (without specifics of the client) for the common backlinks we researched for 12 of his competitors. As you can see, we can immediately see that the one link from the 2006 blog does not have Juice, is not even duplicate content, but is DEAD, which means that any minute we spend further on it is wasted time. Also you can gauge from the light green bars, that there are quite a few pages that DO have backlinks (i.e. 5) to it, are JUICY but do not show a Google Page Rank. Would you want a link there? WE do, if two of your direct competitors are there and the page has 5 links to it!

Common Forward links - Finding the top authorities in your industry

common-forward-links-indirect-linking

The common forward links tool helps us find super authorities that other well ranking sites or other trusted sites or authorities we know link to. In line with the idea of getting links from pages that have links this helps us to identify maybe not so well know, but well cited and trusted sources for linking. Currently we are the only company that has this tool, and while we do plan to make it public at some day, we’re still waiting. Signup for the waiting list here.

Again, for each page we also evaluate factors like JUICE, domain age, page rank, back links to the page to help see and approach the best ones (color coded) first!

On the left side you see a very cheesy picture we’ve quickly drawn until we get this made nice to illustrate the idea of the common forward links tool. This pattern follows the indirect linking concept as well. Your site benefits from the trust that the sites that link to those that link to you pass on. By the way, the concept of trust was defined in the trust rank paper by Stanford researchers and Yahoo.
